PROJECT NAME - SCVFA Disc Golf Course

Project Description:

The Niagara Falls Disc Golf Club, in conjunction with the Ontario Disc Sports Association and Stamford Center Volunteer Firemen's Association, have undertaken a project to design, develop and install a disc golf course in Firemen's park. Donations are being accepted to help fund the purchase of baskets (targets), signage and hardware. The new infrastructure will enrich the surrounding community by offering a "low-barrier" sport for traditional and non-traditional athletes alike to enjoy the park while being physically active. The NFDGC and ODSA are committed to forming a league-night and hosting introductory clinics for the community once installed. Disc golf is accessible to all demographics and requires only a single disc to get started as the baskets and teeing areas will be installed in the park. The area in which the course is to be installed will remain multi-use and will allow for all park user-groups to co-exist amicably and safely while drawing more visitors to one of Niagara Falls hidden jewels.

The proceeds of this fundraiser will be used to purchase: 
-18 baskets
-18 tee signs
-54 bags of concrete (for setting poles)
-Miscellaneous hardware

How this project will assist in promoting or developing amateur sport on a national level.

The development of a course in Niagara Falls will create an outlet for amateur disc golfers to learn and grow with the sport. The primary hurdle in the development of our sport on a national level is access, and with increased access we're sure to witness more athletes moving through the development continuum from amateur to professional.
