PROJECT NAME - PANDEMIC RESILIENCY 2020 & BEYOND

Project Description:​

The Peterborough Curling Club (PCC) is projecting a significant shortfall in income for the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19.  Membership fees, our primary source of income, are currently $100,000+ below previous season.  We will also not earn any revenue from the rental of our Banquet Hall and ice facility.  The absence of income from those sources affects our ability to maintain, repair and replace capital items in the club.  PCC will experience a severe shortage in funds to cover fixed and normal operating expenses, administrative and miscellaneous costs.  The club must ensure that it is financially stable this year to carry on in the future.

The proceeds from this fundraising will be used for the following cause(s):​s

The proceeds will be used to cover operating, administrative and miscellaneous expenses so that we may continue to offer our recreational and competitive curling programs to the city and counties of Peterborough.

How this project will assist in promoting or developing amateur sport on a national level.

PCC offers programs and leagues to participants of many abilities and ages (8+).  It is a fully accessible facility.  We are a vital part of the Fleming College and Trent University curling teams (mixed, men's, women's, mixed and doubles) as they participate in our leagues and practice at the club.  We have hosted college and university competitions and championships.  We have hosted Provincial Wheelchair competitions and championships and were scheduled to host in 2021.  We are the home club for 3 wheelchair members who participated in provincial and national championships (successfully!)
We offer a popular Learn to Curl program for adults to promote the sport of curling in our community.  It attracts 48 new curlers each season and we often have a waiting list.  We also offer a curling program to the elementary school in our area run by volunteers.
