PROJECT NAME - Ice Pad and Plant Capital Improvements

Project Description:

The piping in the ice pad floor has corroded over time and has developed a leak of refrigerant that shall be monitored and addressed for the 2018/2019 season, but requires replacement. In addition, many of the ice plant (refrigeration) components are well past their expected lifespan. After consulting with experts, the best option is to;
  1. Build a new piping system over the existing floor (summer 2019)
  2. Replace components to the ice plant (take place from 2019 to 2022)
  3. Provide, upgrade and maintain club infrastructure to accommodate new ice plant equipment and for other club purposes

The proceeds from this fundraising will be used for the following cause(s):s

In order of priority, proceeds from the fundraising campaign will be used to:
• replace the ice pad floor
• replace/update ice refrigeration equipment (ice plant)
• upgrade building infrastructure – to house the ice plant and other repairs

How this project will assist in promoting or developing amateur sport on a national level.

This project is essential for making the Barrie Curling Club (BCC) a sustainable facility for future generations to be active, compete and be part of a social network unique in Barrie and Simcoe County.   

BCC membership for the 2018/2019 season is the highest in recent memory, in large part due to the efforts to increase opportunities of all skills and ages to participate in curling. In addition, the BCC is able to host local/regional and provincial levels of competition. Olympians, national champions, provincial champions and competitive curlers practice at the BCC due to its central and highway-accessible Ontario location.​
