PROJECT NAME -  2018 World Junior Championships

Project Description:

Badminton Ontario, in affiliation with Badminton Canada and the City of Markham will be hosting the 2018 BWF World Junior Championships. We are expecting some 500 athletes, 200 volunteers and 25000 spectators for a 13-day period to descend upon the Markham Pan Am center

The proceeds from this fundraising will be used for the following cause(s):s

Proceeds will used to alleviate operational costs, provide comfort to our guests and volunteers, ensure we have all the necessary equipment to run the tournament smoothly and subsidize the transportation costs for our guests and volunteers.

How this project will assist in promoting or developing amateur sport on a national level.

Badminton Ontario's position is to promote, through badminton, healthier more active lives to its community members. This event will help solidify badminton's reputation among young and old as a world game, that can motivate our citizens to pursuits of excellence. The event will open more eyes to Badminton's viability as a sport for recreation, and serious leisure by demonstrating the sports capacity to be played for pure enjoyment and competitive reasons.
