PROJECT NAME - The Galt Curling Club - Capital Improvements Drive

Project Description:

The goal of this project is to secure donation funds that can be used towards upgrading aged equipment and to provide continuous improvements to our infrastructure. These renovations and upgrades are essential to maintain our curling facility and to continue to provide curling for all ages within the city of Cambridge and its surrounding area.

The proceeds from this fundraising will be used for the following cause(s):s

Aged ice refrigeration equipment: chiller, condenser and compressor.
Replacement of all lighting to energy efficient LED lighting.

How this project will assist in promoting or developing amateur sport on a national level.

The project is essential for the making and sustainability of ice rinks as well as continued improvements which are essential to the club's operation and ongoing contribution that is fundamental to our community at the local and national level. It is vital for our community that the Galt Curling Club continues to provide opportunities for promotion and development of curlers of all ages especially the youth. The Galt Curling Club has many different types of programs available for all ages starting with our Little Rocks program for ages 6 to 11. There are also Junior and Bantam age programs that can be for either the competitive youth curler or social youth curler. Our youth programs have developed competitive junior curlers that have competed at provincial levels. We have had curlers from our Bantam program that have gone on to represent their respective Universities with curling. Many of our club members (Men, Women and Seniors) have represented the Galt Curling Club in provincial competitions throughout the years  In 2017, the club's Master Women's team won the Ontario provincial championship and went on to represent the province at the National competition in Guelph, Ontario. This year, the Master Women's team has repeated as Ontario provincial champions and will represent Ontario plus the Galt Curling Club at the National Championship in British Columbia in April 2018.
