PROJECT NAME - Capital Campaign

Project Description:

Construction of a Maintenance and Operations Building on Credit Valley Conservation Authority (C.V.C.A.) land with approvals from both the C.V.C.A. and the Town of Mono. For 34 years, Club-owned equipment, used for trail maintenance and grooming has been stored in several outbuildings on a member's property adjacent to the trails. This arrangement is expiring.​​

The proceeds from this fundraising will be used for the following cause(s):​

Plans, Permits, Foundation, Building Structure, Roofing and Siding Materials, Interior Finishing Materials, Service for Utilities, Municipal Development Charge.

How this project will assist in promoting or developing amateur sport on a national level.

As a member of both Nordiq (Cross Country) Canada and Cross Country Ontario (XCSO), the club will continue to support those individuals, registered in the sanctioned Provincial Skill Development Programs (SDP), with aspirations to compete at the National level. The club has produced a number of Olympic, World Junior, University and Provincially ranked athletes, officials and coaches. Most recently, a club member,
Skied for Canada at the 2019 World University Games in Russia. The dual purpose structure will provide:  a Service Bay area for maintenance, off-season storage of club-owned snowmobiles, grooming equipment, tractor, and an Operations area to store additional ski equipment, signs, trail markers. It will include a meeting place for: ski groups, volunteer trail workers and an area to oversee the Club's operations. This initiative will provide a foundation and the necessary infrastructure for the club and its future generations of cross-country skiers. It will provide for increased recreational opportunities to members and guests and to introduce people of all ages and abilities to the sport of cross-country skiing. This will also help to expand our Skill Development Programs (SDP) (i.e. Jackrabbit, Track Attack, Challenge and Masters) Elementary School, Senior's Groups and continue to offer a training base for local High School and University Racing teams and Para-Nordic skiers to meet and prepare for their ski season. Cross Country skiers in Southern Ontario will continue to have access to 18 km of professionally maintained and groomed trails system for Classic and Skate Skiing, available within an hour's drive of the GTA.
