How this project will assist in promoting or developing amateur sport on a national level.

Peterborough Golf and Country Club provides support for both new, returning and competitive curlers.  PGCC has over 240 members in a variety of programs ranging from working with the visually impaired "Blind Curling" to our very competitive "Thursday Night league's".  Through our Learn to Curl program, we have introduced curling to several hundred people over the past 5 years.  In addition, we currently run clinics for Elementary and High School Students and have provided the Trent University curling team with practice ice time.  PGCC has hosted several advanced curling clinics with expert curlers such as John Epping.
PGCC has sent at least one team of 4 to compete in the Senior Men's, Senior Mixed, Master Men's and the Grand Master men's O.C.A. events.  Our Grand Master team advanced to the provincial championships' two seasons ago and our Senior Mixed represented PGCC advancing to the O.C.A. provincial championships in Napanee this past March.
It is vital to have a leading facility that exceeds expectations for these curlers to improve their skills.  This project will support us in maintaining our programs, allowing us to continue to invest in the quality of facility and equipment which promotes curling on both a local and national basis.​
